The threads are so rough the ring freezes

Although metal and supposedly equivalent to Netgear brackets, the threads are so rough that my first bracket jammed after hand tightening. I had to resort to pliers to try to loosen it enough to move it. But instead, a small metal flange broke off the collar, rendering it unusable. Almost the same with the second bracket
