Review on TEKTON 3/8 Inch Drive x 7/8 Inch Offset Oxygen Sensor Socket - 6-Point, Model 47749 by David Butterfield

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Step-by-step instructions, the tool works well.

Used with a jackhammer. If you use a ratchet it will be difficult to remove from the O2 sensor tool, it is not designed to remove the sensor completely just to loosen the old one and tighten the new one on the last turn. If you are using a ratchet, simply loosen it and remove the ratchet, leave the tool on and use your hand to add leverage to rotate the O2 sensor. If you are using penetrating oil to get the old sensor out, I recommend spraying some failed parts cleaner on the exhaust threads and wiping off the oil. Allow to dry for 10 minutes so that no steam remains in the catalyst. Be sure to coat the new O2 sensor with some copper based anti-wear compound, being careful not to get it on the sensor itself, just the threads. When tightening the new sensor, start by hand tightening the threads until they stop, then torque to specification. If you don't have a torque wrench, use a ratchet/wrench to tighten it until it no longer turns easily, then turn it 45 degrees. good rule. Check again after 100 km. I hope this helps step by step. Happy spinning! Sometimes you need a ratchet so you get the right angle on the gauge once you turn it. Simply remove the tool from the ratchet, position the tool and reattach the ratchet. Repeat if necessary until the sensor can be unscrewed by hand. If the tool gets stuck in the sensor, tap the tool several times, being careful not to hit the sensor. Not that important when removing the old one, but very important when installing a new sensor. The last part. Be sure to disconnect the battery before disconnecting the sensor. After everything is installed, connect the battery. If the check engine light is still on after starting the car, you may need to take it somewhere and recheck and/or clear the codes. If the check engine light comes back on, there is another issue that needs to be addressed.
