Review on πŸ“Ί The Ultimate Entertainment on-the-go: Sylvania Dual Screen Portable DVD Players (9-inch) by Alex Smith

Revainrating 5 out of 5

So far so good - still

Rating is based on a 10 inch dual screen DVD player. Received them within 2 days of purchase (go Revain!) and they worked great on our 10 hour trip. I was a little nervous as monitor #2 on the way back seemed to have no power and wouldn't turn on. Switched both devices off and on again, worked perfectly. Hopefully over time they will work the same way. Everything was great with these - video, quality, functionality. The remote control was a huge plus, one of the main reasons we chose this product over others on the market. The volume is a bit low, the main DVD player only works up to 20, the secondary monitor is boosted up to 24, which helps to improve the main monitor. "Mounting straps" are cheap, but sufficient in a pinch to basically hang your DVD player from the headrest restraints. I was worried they would vibrate too much and get in the way of quality, but had no issues. We had no issues with either jump either. Went through a lot of road works, bumps etc and never missed a beat. Again, I hope it stays that way over time. So far so good and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a portable/travel DVD player. Update: It's been almost 2 years since we've had them. We only use them on trips longer than 2 hours, which is pretty rare. So they were used maybe 6-10 times. They still work the same as day one, but one of the hanging straps broke the plastic loop when tightening. The other is still intact but not holding on. I'll try to glue them with velcro. Otherwise they are good devices. The video quality is ok, the cables (3 pieces for work) are annoying but stay in place, the volume depends on the film. Some are very loud, others can hardly be heard. We don't use headphones, except on the plane, but we strongly recommend using headphones other than those that came with the device, which are cheap, flimsy headphones. Recently, it has freezing issue from time to time and stops playing. Not sure if this unit is defective or the two DVDs that this happened to (it was ok after replacing the obviously scratched DVD with another one but the second one which eventually started working fine, was not scratched). But for the price it was worth it as it's peace and quiet.

Pros
  • This is great
Cons
  • Some bugs
