As many have pointed out, there are two problems with this product's packaging: the binoculars and the caps that are (allegedly) designed to protect them. Firstly, the device itself. The build quality is excellent, the setting is good, firm and solid. The image quality is excellent for binoculars in this price range. With good care and cleanliness, these binoculars will last a long time. The small size is great and they are relatively light. The neck strap is fine, but if you're patient and waiting for the price to come down, Matin's quick-release comfort neoprene strap is a much more comfortable strap for longer hikes. The one-piece eyecups and lens caps are really cheap. But you're not buying top-of-the-line binoculars. As one reviewer noted, caps are primarily intended to protect the glass from dirt. And once they're properly attached to the collar, they're easy to put back into the holes. The 3 pieces have slots in the grommets for attachment so they can be easily removed when not in use. To be honest I would like someone to come up with alternative solutions - let's hear about it!
