I found a tricky way to reassign button functions without software and soldering. There is a hidden menu that you can access to remap the buttons. Here's how to do it. I'm assuming you're using a Windows PC. Some of them sound strange but it works. First disconnect the USB stick from the computer. Then open Notepad and make sure Notepad is the active window. Press the button and reconnect the USB cable. Hold the handle down for a few seconds. and let go. You should see activity in the editor as it draws the menu structure. You will see some firmware information. I have firmware 4.01. You will then be asked if you are using a Windows PC or a Mac. If you are using a PC, press the button for less than a second and the menu will appear. You can remap pen functions to one of over 160 keyboard shortcuts. There is also a menu of key modifiers. I was skeptical when I tried it, but it works 100%. No jumpers need to be soldered and it is much more flexible. You can change it at any time. Whoever wrote the code for the pen was very adept at using a notepad as a terminal. I work in IT and looking back, why didn't anyone think of this before? 🤪. Hopefully programmers will now do this for devices connected via USB as the user interface. Have a nice day and stay away from small prickly viruses. 😁☣️
