The belt can be purchased separately, but is simply the cleanest assembly. The buckles look great and you can change them up every day depending on what you're wearing. Why didn't I switch to this many years ago? It's easy enough to pull the strap out and insert it into another buckle. You can cut off the end of the strap that goes into the buckle after measuring your desired length (leave 1 inch for Thanksgiving).
