Review on Satechi Type-C Aluminum Stand & Hub – USB-C Data Port, Micro/SD Card Readers, USB 3.0 & Headphone Jack Port – Mac Mini Compatible (Silver) by Mike Campbell

unreliable and expensive

The color of this USB hub symbolizes the whole gadget: a good idea but bad execution. The color is grey, but it doesn't match the 2018 Mac mini Space Gray, making it look gaudy. It would be better if they opted for a two tone look. There is no active cooling element like a fan, just air vents. It would be nice if this hub used more aluminum as a heatsink for the Mac mini, which tends to get hot. Note: The SD card reader requires you to insert the card with the contact side facing up. If you use it wrong, you've got a heck of a lot of time to try and remove it. It's better to just buy a few high-quality USB hubs from a reliable vendor like Anker for 1/4 the price. (see wire cutters)

Pros
  • 6-IN-1 EXPANSION PORTS - USB-C data port, three USB 3.0 ports, micro/SD card reader and 3.5mm headphone jack for easy access to essential peripherals
Cons
  • Cables shorter than other picks
