The perfect tool for medium to large jobs that require a lot of material to be removed, where random orbital sanders get stuck and slow down. I wish I had bought this a month ago to renovate my outdoor gazebo. The technique takes some getting used to and may elude you, but it's not very dangerous. The weight is also acceptable for overhead work. I've learned to have my work station in front of me most of the time and to stay within reach: working with one hand isn't really an option. Also, as with other spinning tools, surface entry point and angle of attack are very important at higher RPMs, so practice on something you don't care about first or an inconspicuous area. The velcro pad is nice and soft and therefore very forgiving. The trigger locking mechanism requires some work - it was pushed in too far or it would pop out and I wish it could be locked with just my thumb instead of two hands just to lock the tool. Otherwise it works great. I didn't notice any difference between the top two speed settings, so I don't know if this is really an issue or if it just has more clicks than the actual settings. I mostly use it to the max so I haven't worried too much. Lower speeds work. Hearing protection recommended.
