I love it as a decoration, it works great as a mug too, but it has a hollow handle that's not easy to clean. It's like having to use alcohol and salt as abrasives to clean it, but I'm not 100% sure it's clean enough to not get sick. Indeed this is a great gift or as a good showpiece. It's just not good, like a real mug. Mine may be an exception just because of the shape of the fired and glazed handle, but I will be using it as a cup for my brushes and small tubes of paint so it doesn't break. Complaints about durability mostly relate to the grip. so heavy, falls over sometimes but the rest of the mug is quite flimsy and so the last time it fell over and dropped the rim broke off. If the edge is chipped it's no longer "waterproof" and will disintegrate faster, there's already a crack because I didn't notice the chip until I'd rinsed it and filled it with boiling hot liquid.
