Great boom or voiceover mic - a bit noisy over long distances

I've been using it as a boom and speech microphone for a few weeks. Sounds full and warm. Being relatively close to the microphone can help minimize unwanted external noise for best performance. It's well built and easy to set up. If you want to hear a detailed sound test and comparison with some of my other mics you can check out my more detailed YouTube video (Paul Antill). mobile device vs. DSLR/recorder. Your only option for this to work is to use a TRRS-TRRS cable, which is NOT included. The included TRS-TRRS cable CAN work with either type of device BUT you must switch TRRS to the mobile device when in use and TRS to the camera when in use. This at least lets you use the same cable for both types of devices, but this TRUE smart switching isn't possible without a TRRS-TRRS cable. Main Impressions: - Compared to my Deity D4 Duo which isn't exactly a direct competitor. , The Comica VM20 picks up more ambient noise at longer distances - It only picks up noise relatively subtly in the line of sight, making it effective when only focusing on individual sources - The low-pass filter is particularly effective outdoors while minimizing wind noise. 150Hz will greatly reduce the richness of your sound, so keep that in mind when using it. As far as I can tell, the rest of the sound doesn't change. - It takes some time to remember to turn on the microphone before using it. - The battery life is excellent. I accidentally left it on overnight after shooting, only to come back 12 hours later to see the battery life has barely decreased. It charges via USB-C, and from my testing, it doesn't pick up any interference while working. Performance and use at the same time. Basically, I leave my windshield (not a dead cat) on all the time to reduce consonance when speaking. I've found that it also helps reduce the noise level in the room a bit. The included case is nice, but I'll probably never use it unless I'm packing a lot of gear and can find room for the case. Also, I will most likely only find a soft carrying case for it. The cold shoe mount feels a bit stiff. It doesn't really absorb or minimize the effect of external forces on the microphone. If you use this a lot on the go, I might consider upgrading or replacing it.

Pros

Cons
  • So far so good
