Best kitchen purchase in 5 years

Who needs a kettle anyway? The plate seems to be working fine! I don't need another household appliance cluttering up the space! I thought of all of that too. How wrong was I! I had this bad boy for a day and I can't tell you how stupid I feel for not only doubting his awesomeness but for not buying him a year ago. Let's get to the small details: everything inside is made of stainless steel, the top lid is the only plastic part besides the water. There is no unpleasant chemical or plastic smell in this kettle. The heating element is located at the bottom of the kettle, not inside. The water level markings are on the handle side of the interior, as mentioned, which isn't really practical unless you plan on topping it up. up to the peak. The lid snaps into place and closes automatically once the water boils. I have a small studio apartment and I can hear the 'click' of this cut off no matter where I am. You can place the kettle anywhere on the base and it will work, it doesn't need a "protected position". be. The handle can be rotated in any direction. Another little feature that I really liked is that the cord can be wrapped and secured INSIDE the base so the cord doesn't get in the way when not in use. You can wrap it once to shrink the cable or wrap it twice to hide it completely. Such a nice feature considering I have such a tiny kitchen! It heats up fairly quickly, faster than water on a stovetop.**Updated 1/21/2014** This kettle has brewed the last cup of tea. I bought it on August 1st, 2012 and today when I tried to unplug it, the grounding plug got stuck in the outlet. That went on for about a year and a half. I don't regret my purchase at all. I've used this daily to make many, many cups of tea. I've thought about upgrading to a better one, but the jump in price is so significant I might just buy another one of these.
