The ring around this lamp is very difficult to remove. There are three small plastic spikes that are attached to the ceiling so tightly that it is extremely difficult to remove the ring for any reason. In fact, I had to pry the screws out of my RV's ceiling to remove the light and do something with the wiring. After removing the ring I had to file down the little plastic tabs so it still snapped into place but could be easily removed. Also the on-off button doesn't work, sometimes you hear it click and the light doesn't come on, and sometimes it works fine. The light isn't the highest quality, but I left it because I needed a specific size and profile. If you have time, look elsewhere.
