EASY to replace! for Windshield Washer Pumps

I thought that replacing this pump on my F-150 would be difficult and that I would have to remove the battery, battery tray, washer reservoir etc, but it turned out to be quite easy . Remove the plastic cap holding the top of the rubber gasket next to the radiator on the passenger side, turn the gasket to the side and you will find a 10mm screw holding the headlight assembly. Remove it and the two 10mm screws at the top of the assembly, then pull the entire headlight assembly out of the grille. Luckily, Ford finally left enough slack in the wiring so you can pull out parts like this without disconnecting the wiring. Behind the headlight you can see the pump and the bottom of the washer reservoir. Pull the pump out of the tank. It is only held in place by a rubber bushing. Disconnect the elbow and hose from the old pump and connect them to the new pump. Loosen the plastic clip and disconnect the electrical connector from the old pump and connect it to the new pump. Remove the old bushing from the tank and replace it with a new one if necessary. Then insert the hose nipple of the new pump into the grommet in the liquid container and you're done. Before installing the headlight, check that the pump is working. Since the liquid lines are likely to be empty, you will most likely need to run the pump for about 15 seconds before water comes out of the jets. Reinstall the headlight assembly and replace the three screws and fasteners holding the air deflector/seal. That's all. A few notes: my F-150 had a screen on the ring but the new one didn't, so I reused the old ring. You are the choice. I also used silicon grease on the hose fittings and on the inside and outside of the bushing to make it easier to attach and fix any leaks. While you have the pumps turned off, make sure the strainer in the sleeve is not clogged with dirt and that there is not a lot of dirt at the bottom of the tank. The whole job took about 15 minutes and cost about $20 for the pump and about $350 for a bargain price.
