The wood fibers keep coming off!

I was so happy to receive this cutting board! It did not last long! I washed the top of the board before use. After washing, the wood fibers began to flake off. I've tried washing it more, hoping it will eventually stop. It wasn't like that. The fibers continued to detach. I couldn't imagine fiber being in my food so I sent the board back before I even used it!
