Review on 🎡 Chrome Record Weight by Turntable Lab: Enhance Your Record Playback Experience by Kenny Hrdlicka

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Easily worth $50 and better than anything I've tried except Project for $90.

This is a great looking and functional chrome record weight. This is the best I could find for the money and far better than the Audio Technica AT618. I tried the AT first and it has a couple of major flaws, the biggest being the outer ring which is all rubber so it flexes and deforms. has a very narrow overall weight width and lacks the beautiful felt base that this record weight from Turntable Labs has. Labs is a great buy at around $50. The only weight that is better is the $90 project, which weighs a little more and is 1/4 inch tall. Wider weight distribution and easier pickup. To me, the $50 Turntable Labs was worth the money and looked great too. I bought Chrome and it fits perfectly with my Technics SL-Q3 and SL-Q2 in perfect condition and works with many tables with good center bearings. Before you buy, make sure your table can withstand this weight. Most direct drive tables or better belt drive tables can handle this, but really cheap tables can't. For audiophiles it's really effective in reducing a bit of LP distortion and also adds a bit of bass response. You can also easily remove the off-center stamp on the label with rubbing alcohol if you prefer. However, if distortion occurs in only one area (e.g. the first track or the first and second tracks of an LP), she will almost eliminate it. I have searched long and hard for the best record weight at a reasonable price and this one has proved to be a win-win. Advice for users of this weight: be careful when picking it up with your fingers. It has a small edge that you can hold on to and when your hand gets dry it can easily slip off. I know how it ruined my first copy of Dire Straits "Brothers In Arms" on 180 gram vinyl in a 2 LP set. My fault but that will never happen again now that I know how slippery that 1.65lb weight is. it can slip off easily.
