Out of 3 units, 2 burn out almost immediately. The room temperature display was stuck and the unit appeared to be shorted when on. I use a non-inductive load, a 600w ceramic heater on a short cable, as there is little or no inductive feedback, which is a major cause of these controllers failing. However, the device starts to get very hot, which means that the switching device is most likely the triac off and on too much. I have a lot of design experience and I suspect that the control logic can exhibit spurious oscillations at high speed. It's a shame as a simple controller can be a useful product.
