This flashlight has three levels of brightness, which is very convenient. I have other daylighters that are either on or off, there is no in-between option. The magnifying glass is clear and good for detail work like embroidery. The light is white so the colors show up correctly (if you've ever delved into the intricacies of floss embroidery you'll appreciate this light). The main thing to keep in mind is that you can change the balance of the light to make it work. t stand alone. Also, the neck is twisted a little awkwardly. Some places are tougher than others.
