I got this for safety and to help my son's wrist when he was hit by a ball and his wrist bounced weirdly and since then we have got it, it seemed much more stable on ball reception and at high speeds. This thing also looks amazing and very cool. His confidence on the plate wasn't an issue, but it definitely gave him a boost.
