I've had an original Marpac Dohm for about four years now. I swear by it for sleeping and recommend it to everyone. The sound quality of this product is NOT the same as the original. It isn't nearly as loud as the original version and I've noticed that the sound has less depth to it. That being said, this is still a solid option for sound machine. It's lightweight, easy to store, and you have a good amount of control with the rotating covers and two sound levels. It still blocks out the sound of a loud TV or talking, but it probably isn't going to drown out heavy footsteps or a lawnmower. I'd still recommend this to others, but just be aware they're not the same.
