I'm not giving five stars because it's everything I hoped it would be, I'm giving five stars for functionality versus price. I've worked with several Miracast devices over the past few years and I think this is the first that really works out of the box with minimal fuss. Keep in mind that the Miracast protocol is finicky and therefore most of these "cast" devices are completely dependent on the source and output device being powered on. a Wi-Fi network that can share the bandwidth and functionality of the Wi-Fi protocol. One of the perks of this device is that it also allows you to use the 5G side of your Wi-Fi router's signal, giving you more bandwidth options overall. Shouldn't make a difference for actual usage, but shows it's keeping up with the latest and greatest connectivity options. So let me be clear that in order to actually use this device you need to use the home screen that appears on your screen and follow the instructions to try to connect without Wi-Fi. However, it is much better to connect and then use that connection to turn on Wi-Fi bandwidth and make sure this device is on your Wi-Fi network. Once you do that, streaming to this device is easy and you will encounter few problems. If you intend to use these regularly on the go or without a WiFi network, your results will be mixed. For example I have an old monitor that refused to receive a properly scaled signal from this unit and it always looked stretched. I've been messing around with features for some time and it never worked properly. However, when I decided to use a Wi-Fi connection, it finally worked properly. Strange, but typical of this type of setup in my experience. It also annoys me that all manufacturers seem to show a key as if it's feeding itself when you're actually dangling a wire or wires. of these dongles - a USB based power supply is always required and in many cases the antenna part of the device is also connected to the actual HDMI dongle. So you have to think about the best way to set this all up so that it doesn't look so ugly or cause other problems with connecting power etc. Finally, as with all devices of a similar nature, if you won't be using it for long, you'd be better off unplugging it, plugging it back in, selecting the input on your HDMI device, and either starting over, or making the basic connections yourself, with that it works again. In closing, I just wanted to mention that this device actually works if you follow the basic instructions. I've reproduced this multiple times on multiple different monitors and TVs with no problems. Considering similar devices cost $150 not so long ago, I have a hard time not giving us five stars. If you're having serious technical issues you'll probably be tearing your hair out, but I don't think it's that difficult to navigate.
