My garage door stopped closing because the obstacle sensor receiver didn't detect anything from the original Stanley transmitter on the other side of the garage . After 20 years of 24/7 operation, the original IR LEDs no longer work as well. Almost all garage door obstacle sensors use 930/940nm IR to avoid false activation from sunlight and the 940nm emitters in this kit proved to be an excellent replacement for the original (purple LED in second photo). ). In this block, the cathode (negative) side of the emitter LED is a large pin inside the LED package, and the anode (positive) side is a small pin. LEDs with Stanley emitters are made upside down (the big pin in the LED package is the anode - see the red box in the second picture). Be sure to take this into account when connecting a replacement LED to the Stanley emitter assembly. No further modifications required - 1.8v supplied to the Stanley emitter works great for this replacement LED and the existing photodiode easily detects the replacement LED's signal across the width of the garage.
