Standing in place!
These "generic" filters WERE INSTALLED in my 2004 Subaru Outback. To my surprise, there were no filters installed and there was a lot of black mold on the visible side of the evaporator (hence the funny smell in the cabin over the years, I was able to remove it with my fingers). The whole filter change took less than 45 minutes and the interior of the car is much better. I am impressed.
