Do not buy this item!
No installation instructions. We finally activated them and installed them in our rental and they seem to have worked for 2-3 days. Came back 2 weeks later to finish the property and the smoke detectors didn't work. It's time to return the item. We bought 6. We had to replace them with another brand. If we had read the reviews we would never have bought it and lost a significant amount of money on this product.
