Review on Memorex Standard DVD Cases - 10 Pack: Protect and Organize Your DVDs with Ease! by John Contreras

Spin, slap, slap the Bing Bong.

I have a lot of pre-recorded DVDs and one thing I've learned the most is that all DVD cases are made differently. Some are very good, some are mediocre and some are just plain terrible. Another problem that arises is the damage that can occur when removing the labels used to seal the actual drive inside the case, thereby alerting would-be thieves to the security device that is often locked inside. I'm particularly annoyed when the adhesive on these labels stays on the sleeve and doesn't remain on the label after it's peeled off. By now you probably think I'm a goalkeeper, but I like to think of myself as special (I know, I know, six out of one, half a dozen others), at least when it comes to certain things. to save media, for example. Anyway, when I was considering buying replacement DVD cases, I learned a few things. For example the fact that DVDs, although similar to CDs, are produced differently. It seems that DVDs are actually two discs that are joined together, and sometimes this process doesn't always join the central part of the DVD. This isn't a problem in and of itself, but if you're using a CD case to store a DVD, the extra pressure needed to eject the disc from the CD case can damage the hub and result in data loss. occur. I think that's why most DVD cases I've seen have a simple eject mechanism that holds the disc in place. but ten cases for five dollars seemed like a pretty good deal, and Memorex was the brand name I knew. The cases are very durable and close securely with clasps. The hub/disc locking mechanism has three nodes, with a compression element attached to one node and holding the disc in place with a distinct "click". When pressed, it affects the specified node, which allows the disk to be freed. Once in place, the disc sits in a circular protective area on a small built-in rim, and the outside has molded grooves to make it easier to grip the rims of the disc. On the inside cover of the case, opposite the disc area, there are two holders that allow you to store printed material inside along with the disc. On the outside of the case is a layer of transparent plastic that you can insert printed materials into. Inside one of the cases is a bonus data disc containing Memorex software called exPressit, which provides disc labeling templates in just about every aspect imaginable and claims to work with both PC operating systems and Mac. Of course, the manufacturer recommends using Memorex labels for best results, but I am sure they will work with any label available. Overall I am very satisfied with these replacement cases as they suit my needs and I find the price very reasonable. Cookieman108
