instructions really suck. Eventually I started assembling it in reverse order and found it very difficult to balance to assemble it in the order that the manual called for. This is not a real tree. It definitely has to be chipboard with a wood veneer, because some of the pieces I received had the veneer peeling off the corners. It's not that noticeable so I didn't want to bother with a replacement or refund. This is a good size for toddlers so they can reach the top shelf without dragging anything. There's also a decent amount of toys in the baskets. Overall, this is not a disappointment, even though the color of natural wood doesn't match real wood furniture at all by a few shades.
