I wanted a ThinkPad Thunderbolt 3 Workstation Dock Gen 2 (40ANY230US) for my ThinkPad P15 Gen1 laptop but nobody had them in stock so I bought this one instead. Skeptical (USB-C vs. Thunderbolt) I wasn't sure what I was getting into. The technology is very confusing. How do I get 4K@60Hz, GigE, (4) USB 3.1 Gen2 (10Gbps), and (2) USB 2.0 ports from a single USB-C port? I don't know how they do it, but everything works great! I ran some performance tests on SSDs connected with USB 3.1 Gen2 (CrystalDiskMark), connected directly to a ThinkPad and connected back to this hub and the results were the same. All this when connected to a Dell P2715Q 4K@60Hz monitor, GigE and other USB peripherals. My ThinkPad requires a separate 170w PSU, but that doesn't matter as the ThunderBolt Dock has a 230w PSU but has 2 separate ports (USB-c and power) to the ThinkPad. Overall I'm very happy and when I don't need (2) 4K@60Hz displays it works great and is a lot cheaper than a Thunderbolt dock.
