I bought these rugs because I knew it would be awful to step on them barefoot. Yes, you are not mistaken. I knew my soft footed Shih Tzu would be even worse off if my strong feet couldn't step on it barefoot. Yes, you read that correctly too. "Why?" you may be wondering. because my adorable little princesses insist on ruining every rug I've ever bought and using it as their new favorite potty training spot (and yes, they have a dog door, they're just too lazy to use it)). I knew if I bought something uncomfortable they would avoid it like the plague and actually use their doggie door. IT WORKS OUT. Although these rugs are ugly, they are functional: hard wearing and 100% Shih Tzu repellent. Now I have rugs in my kitchen like a normal person and I don't have to worry about stepping on a "gift" someone left me at night. Also, I'm used to the pain of stepping on these things barefoot. I think of it as an acupressure mat to relieve stress after a long day of cleaning my iRobot Roomba destroying everything in its path (but that's another review for another day). 100% recommended! (Carpets, not Roomba. ;))
