Maybe if you don't have a protector on your boots. I had high expectations based on the many positive reviews. After I scraped off the top layer of dirt on my Doc Marder boots and scrubbed vigorously with this shoe scraper, there was still dirt on the tread. The Doc Marten marks are flat and fairly widely spaced, so I'm surprised the scrubber can't remove the dirt. But that's impossible, and I present this photo as proof.

The photo shows this scraper after a year of daily outdoor use. On the right is the new scratch mat. Over time, the bristles and sides flattened out, making it less effective.
