I used to try using one of the water leak valve plugs to match the Z-Wave hub/smart hub. Unfortunately, the reliability of Z-Wave devices was not high and I constantly received offline messages. Instead, I've opted for a system that doesn't require a wireless connection to report the leak. I installed it on my main plumbing to stop leaks going into the basement. I used a regular pipe cutter to cut a section of pipe and then installed an automatic shut off valve in between. Do not cut the pipes flush, let them run into the valve. Also pay attention to the flow direction of the water and do not install it upside down. Also, the longest part was draining water from the plumbing lines. Easy installation or if a plumber does it they shouldn't charge you more than an hour's work.
