Overheating computer and accessories

I used it for the first time and when I took it off my computer it was hot. The second time I left it connected to the USB, came back later, unplugged it and noticed that it wasn't hot, but there were shiny heat marks on both sides of the case and the front slot that the card fits in was warped. I tried to remove the mini SD card and it got stuck in the reader. Used pliers to remove the card to see if the heat destroyed the card. If you bought this reader, plug it in and see if it's overheating.
