Do not buy this item! Replacing a jug is expensive. This was the second jar that broke for me, it's very fragile. The second time I replaced the jug it broke when I pulled the lid slightly on the sides and the jug splintered. This glass is very thin. Another disadvantage is the cost of this replacement teapot. I can buy another teapot for less money than it would cost just to buy a replacement pot for this unit. I would settle for plastic pitchers that don't break. I bought a 3 liter Mr. coffee maker (black and white) which has a great plastic jug. Not an acrylic jug, but a flexible plastic jug. Best value for money and works great.
