Buy this lens now! Excellent quality and a pleasure to use.

It was a pleasure to receive this lens. The EOS R came out about a year and a half ago, since then the lenses have been gradually released. Because the RF mount is so new, lens options were very limited. Canon RF lenses are huge, heavy and very expensive. So when I saw a 50mm reach lens that was a native RF mount for something so small, I had to try it! Look into the camera! Over the years I've transitioned to digital with fully automatic lenses. So the first photos I took with this lens took me back to the early days of manual photography. Design: The lens is made in the shape of a tank. It's small but feels solid and solid when mounted on the camera. It's not heavy, but it doesn't feel like a flimsy plastic lens either. The body is aluminum and the glass looks premium. It comes with a pouch and a nice lens hood. The lens's focus ring is smooth, making it easy to find and hold focus. The same goes for the membrane ring, it has enough resistance not to slip. The mount looks well made and secure on the body. I was happy with how it fits on the camera and felt comfortable and secure. Image quality: The photos turned out great. The image quality was so impressive! I could get very close to the subject and get picture-like macro, or shoot far and get a very clean and sharp overall image. With the Canon RF Mount, the camera can produce very sharp images by eliminating the mirror. This lens has complete control over this feature. The aperture starts at f/1.7 and is very sharp. Most of the lenses I use on set and in production are f2.8, so the added flexibility of going to f/1.7 was very interesting. Using such a shallow depth of field helps the artist focus the viewer's eye. This gives you more artistic control in creating the images you want the buyer or viewer to see. It's a great tool that shouldn't be overlooked with this lens. Who is this lens for? If you are looking for an inexpensive lens that can be used with the RF mount system, this is your lens. HF lenses are very expensive right now, but this will get you started. If you don't have a manual focus lens, I highly recommend this lens to try manual focus. I think it's good for all photographers to use manual focus because it allows you to become a better creator by using more of your senses to create images. I grew up with manual film cameras and for me it was like a flashback to the past. It reminded me that photography is art and it's fun to use your senses and use your eyes and hands to create art! Take this lens and enjoy it.
