Rocketek Burns HOT

Background: I have a 2017 Mac Air and prefer it over the newer Macbook Pro range because of the USB. I also like to use Micro SD (MSD) cards as poor people's partition storage system, which is why I have MSD partitioned files. I carry my cards in a very handy credit card sized "DimeCard Micro 8โ€ case. My SD slot has a 256GB MSD, which doubles the storage capacity of my Mac Air. Review: I have a USB 2.0 to USB MSD that's about the same size as a wireless mouse dongle, so it's quite small, but it uses 2.0 technology, so I figured I'd upgrade to 3.0 upgrade. After unsuccessfully searching for something as small as my previous adapter, I settled on the "Rocketek 3.0" due to its relative size and cost. It sticks out of the USB port a little over half an inch, which is twice as much as my 2.0 adapter. With the 2.0 I could leave it on and not worry about lugs, but with the newer Rocketek I had to take it off before riding. This was acceptable to me as I have the MSD media and will use it as needed. So form, function, etc. are all good, but there is one major flaw that is a cause for concern. This little disk feels hot, hot, hot. I have fairly heat resistant fingers, however, when holding this device with my thumb and forefinger. I can't hold it when it's online. You literally take your fingers away and rub them together, it's so hot. The concern here is obvious. I don't know if this will damage my MSD or cause other problems in the future. You might say not to leave it on for a long time, but it gets so hot almost immediately. Because of these concerns, I have no plans to use this device at all, except in dire circumstances. like my back to the backup. So beware of this question before buying. You may be more risk tolerant than me, but my data is my family's small bytes and one of my most important resources. Of course, everything I have is archived, but that's not the point. Thing is, using this device doesn't necessarily solve my accessibility problem, but instead creates liability. Just wanted to share my thoughts and opinions. I hope it helps.
