Review on 🚽 Superior Pump 93501: Reliable 1/2-HP Cast Iron Sewage Pump with Tethered Float Switch by Art Porras

Bought this pump in August 2015. My neighbor has a mirror image of my house and it was built at the same time he needed to replace his original drain pump which failed and flooded much of his basement. My drain pump was fine and I decided to replace it because she died at the same age. I did a little research and found this to be a good option. Unfortunately, this turned out to be a bad buy. On September 22, 2018 my wife discovered our drain pump overflowing as she started her laundry at around 9:30pm. I bypassed the float switch but the pump still hasn't turned on. I opened the pan, unscrewed the nozzles and pulled out the pump. The impeller was loose and not frozen, I reconnected the pump and the motor just hummed. No movement on the impeller. After a little more than 3 years of use, the motor burned out. This pump didn't work very often. I don't have groundwater in my basement because I live on a hill. It was only used after a wash, maybe 5 loads a week, or when the water softener was regenerated. With a Kinetico system, it recovers when needed and doesn't consume much when needed. I was very lucky that my basement didn't flood, just lots of water under my stairs where Christmas ornaments are stored in plastic containers. . Something was leaking under the wall, but the carpet was dried with a shop vacuum and there was no more damage.
