Review on πŸ“ Imperial Absorbent Engineers: Retractable Measuring Tool for Precision Measurements by Joseph Hall

So Close to Amazing

This is a great little tape measure. It's lightweight yet durable, sits well on the hip and the inclusion of imperial and metric sizing is great. The anchor at the end is fixed with three pins and doesn't wobble at all, which I really appreciate. However, these are not all roses. The anchor doesn't have a magnet, the case doesn't feel shockproof at all (don't drop it!) and the locking feature is almost *too* good - you have to really work to unlock the band! little nags, really. The tape measure has only one real downside, but it's stupid: there's nothing printed on the case to show how much displacement the case is producing. Since the measurement system you are using is only printed on one side of the tape measure, you will need to bend down to ensure you never measure from the end of the body. And if you're using it to measure imperial units, you can't even measure the case itself to solve the problem: my calipers say the case is 2.62 inches throughout, which equates to no fraction used. Customs service! (It's the closest thing to 2 and 5/8 inches, but it's not exact, and using that approximation will affect the accuracy of your measurements.) It's so close to being an amazing tape measure: it's capable of realizing its full potential.
