With its long handle, this spoon is ideal for extracting the exact amount of ground coffee straight from the bag. It's already saved me a lot of hassle from not having to clean up spilled coffee grounds from the countertop --- I shake it while it's still in the bag --- and I don't have to transfer the coffee grounds to another container to do that with my little plastic shovel. I prefer the 1 tablespoon size over the large 2 tablespoon portions as it allows for a more accurate amount of coffee added, which is especially useful for brewing small batches. Additional movements associated with measuring large batches several times do not cause particular inconvenience. A stirrer on the handle may be handy for some, but brewing coffee in a glass press requires a plastic stirrer, so I personally don't stir with it. However, if I had a stainless steel press, I probably would.
