Great to get you started
I was given this scaler because I started using Emmi-dent between dental appointments. I've had a lot of problems with tartar build up, especially on one tooth (which is a bit crooked) so I bought this to remove plaque. I really don't need to use it anymore. The toothbrush itself does an excellent job of preventing tartar build-up. If you're starting from scratch right after brushing your teeth, then I don't think you need it. But if you're starting between visits, this is a great product. I'm glad I bought mine, although it's little used now.
