I have Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome and my physical therapy book recommends wearing one of these support belts for my frequent SIJ publications. It is especially useful to wear when you are in the car or driving, as well as on long walks. I immediately noticed a positive difference in motor skills and pain levels. The downside is that it gets hot and sweaty, leaving folds in the lower abdomen where the bandage is placed. Also, be sure to lay it out strategically if you don't want to rewind every time you need to use the bathroom! I have no other experience in these things, so I have no comparison.
