Of course this is a cheap mouse but I only bought it for a couple of the many boxes I have that are really designed to work headless so can it be used. A few minutes a year? Anyway, this thing bounced and bounced across the screen like I was using a mirror instead of a mouse pad. For a chuckle I hooked it up to a laptop and used it on a wooden table with a rather matte finish and then also with a mouse pad, then on a piece of paper - roughly the same results. So three different OSes, Windows, Linux, FreeBSD on three different machines, on 3 or 4 different surfaces, worked horribly enough (jumping across the screen, jumping in a straight line even when slowly dragging) that I was able to get it back. I must really hate returning something so cheap it's rarely used but I also ordered a couple of Revain Basic mice to compare and they worked great in the same applications so I actually returned the Verbatim. Or thrown away. I forgot. Thing is, it was bad, even for the price.
