The heater reaches the selected temperature and switches off. It never turns on again after that, no matter how cold it is. No matter what temperature is set, how low or how high, the device does not come back after many days of testing. The sound is pretty loud. Not as loud as Lasko, the current bestseller, but still very noticeable. Mostly quiet or low noise is relative, and don't expect a silent device. Otherwise, it's a good heater for its size. Heats up a normal bedroom.
