Mifsuds Photographic is an online retail photography store with a difference - they are very much involved in the photographic community. The web site has been recently revamped to provide a better shopping experience and their main focus now appears to be how best to assist and advise people who want to take up photography as a hobby or profession. They offer good quality products at competitive prices and equally importantly, they appear to be very customer oriented.
They have invested heavily in stocks of relatively low cost second hand cameras (so-called single user cameras) which means that if you do want one as a starting point or as an addition for your existing kit then you can find plenty of choice here without paying the high prices often asked by other retailers . I bought my Nikon D610 with the 24-85mm VR lens for £1259.00 in January 2014 and this is still their current price.
When I bought my Nikon D810 (£1599) I also bought a second hand Nikon AF S DX 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 G ED VR II Nikkor Lens which was only 3 months old, boxed and came with both caps, 5 year warranty (including accidental damage) plus I got 2000 loyalty points (worth £20). Mifsuds don't give you 5000 loyalty points in one hit though - they give you 500 per month! Do it at least once every 10 months and you will get the maximum value in rewards each time (so 2000 points in one month and 2000 points in another). They also give you 500 points as a birthday present. In addition they reward your loyalty with exclusive offers from time to time which can save you even more money.
Summary:
I really like the fact that Mifsuds are very much involved in the community and that is a big reason why I buy from them - good quality products at competitive prices, backed by some of the best customer support around yet still affordable makes them stand out from the crowd. They have separate sections for new and used or refurbished goods so its clear what each section has to offer. I'm not sure I would recommend buying new because you can get a 'like new' quality product at a significantly reduced price which is almost as good as buying new.
I have used the Mifsuds Photographic web site on a number of occasions now and cannot fault them in any way. There are plenty of payment choices including PayPal, credit / debit cards plus they accept cheques. They also offer free delivery within the UK for orders over £30 (spend less than this and you pay £3 - probably unavoidable if you buy from other retailers too). If your order is below £30 then they ask you to pay either by Paypal or by credit card - not sure why but perhaps its to cover their costs with an automated payment
