The dimensions are far from the same. Child size 12 was much larger than the average female, and curiously child size 10 was even larger. 2T would probably fit a 5 year old. Although soft, they don't seem to last very long. I think they're fine if you only want to wear them once or twice for photos and Christmas morning, but ordering the right size is probably a gamble.
