Comparison of white 100% polyester t-shirts

I want to buy white t-shirts to wear under white dress shirts. I chose two, but the differences between them weren't obvious, so I bought one of each: Men's Polyester Sports T-Shirt. (White) (X-Large) Augusta 790A Adult Moisture Wicking Softball Shirt - White Extra Large. This is my comparison in the hopes that it will help others decide on a moisture wicking polyester tank top. First of all, I have to say that they are completely different, especially when it comes to the fabric. They are cut almost the same, in the style of a standard t-shirt with a relaxed fit. The difference in the cut is that the Augusta brand has slightly smaller armholes and sleeves. The width is almost the same and the jerzees are about ½ inch longer. Both have a printed label. The main difference is in the fabric. Augusta fabric has the traditional look and feel of the stiff, slightly shiny polyester fabric you're probably familiar with. Jerzees fabric looks and feels remarkably similar to traditional t-shirt cotton - in fact, if I didn't know otherwise I would assume it does (I don't know how to tell the difference other than with a flame test could). . Perhaps more revealing is the weight. Each is in size XL. I washed them before weighing them to make sure they didn't have the fabric coatings that are sometimes applied to make the machine easier to handle or to improve the feel or look when sold. Well, they've been washed and dried once: 4.7 oz Augusta 7.6 oz Jerzees Honestly, I can't decide which I like better. I probably won't know until I've worn them a few times and then it's basically a matter of comfort. I asked a friend what she liked best and she chose Augusta. I asked what criteria she used to make that decision and she said things were looking better. Maybe she didn't like the way the shirt looked like a t-shirt. I suspect that jerseys with a more complex and thicker weave will likely offer a bit more insulation for the winter. Conversely, Augusta's thinner, flatter weave can be cooler in the summer. It may be some time before I determine if there is actually a noticeable difference. I give both 5 stars because they match the description and look well made. I don't see a problem with any of the shirts. By the way, and a bit off-topic - I'm sure everyone has come across a ring around their collar at some point. I have a very expensive white formal shirt with a yellow ring around the collar. I don't like sending shirts to the laundromat... I don't know what they do, but laundered shirts shrink, come back with cracked buttons and don't last long - not the best way to deal with a very nice expensive shirt. I don't think there is a special trick in laundromats to take the ring off. I'm sick of my good shirts being ruined by a non-removable ring. Bleach doesn't help. So I decided to investigate the cause so maybe I could figure out how to remove it. I found out it's just a skin oil, which explains the yellow color. As you might expect, bleach will not turn yellow oil colorless. The only solution is to remove the oil, which means attempting the difficult task of removing oil from the fabric. For an ordinary household product, Rassvet detergent is best suited - it is used to remove unpleasant oil stains from unfortunate birds (presumably without harm). I mixed up a small glass of half Dawn and half water, then using an old soft toothbrush, gently rubbed the solution into the ring. Leave it on for a few minutes before washing normally. Depending on how bad the ring is, you may need to process/wash/repeat several times. Using this technique I was able to almost completely remove the ring from several expensive white shirts that I no longer wanted to wear. I was able to add them and the formal shirt back to my active wardrobe. With that in mind, I now try to prevent the ring from showing before I put on a white shirt by thoroughly drying my neck in the shower to remove as much oil from my skin as possible.
