I have already tried washing machine balls and they worked great. So I decided to try these. It's sad to say they don't work as well as I thought they would. I have a front loading washing machine and have used both balls at medium loads. Not all clothes were clean. I had to wash my son's uniform shirt. It has small black dots that weren't there before. So I ended up having to use a pre-treated and regular detergent to clean the shirt. Light blue shirt with buttons. It really doesn't smell. If you smell your clothes, they're clean, but they don't have a clean, fresh scent. For the second load, I added Downy fabric softener and Perpetual Pearls to the wash. They made my clothes smell nice. I like it when my bath towels have a nice, pleasant scent. Thanks to Downy, my bathroom smells nice when I hang towels in it. I think they're ok overall but I don't think I would buy them again due to the lack of a clean scent. I have used other balls in the past that clean and refresh your clothes. This will clean your clothes, but for stubborn stains, you'll need to pretreat your clothes so you don't wash them twice.
