I took myself a decent external drive for 2 Tb. Its main purpose is to store backups. Copies have to be taken from 2 computers and a laptop connected to the home network through a router. In order not to drag the disk around all the computers, I connected it directly to the router, which has a blue USB just for this purpose. I distributed a disk resource over the network and now I upload files from each computer to it. Through WiFi through a router, the disk is available even from a smartphone. USB 3.1 files are copied quickly enough.
