Perfect fit but smelly

Is that the glue used for the straps? dye for color? The smell picked up in the factory? I like the fit and the level of protection, but I'm concerned the smell might harm my kids. Are all the ingredients you use non-toxic? They have many reviewers commenting on the smell. Please explain and let us know that these odors are harmless to inhale! I would like to buy another pack but am waiting for an answer.
