About 20 years ago I gave away my Japanese poles when I quit woodworking. I wanted stones for two Japanese knives that I recently bought and chose. There are no instructions so I recommend watching some YouTube videos with free lessons if you need them. The stones themselves do their job well. The bamboo body and rubber base stick well to my countertop. The management doesn't work very well, but neither does the others. If you've never hand-sharpened kitchen knives before, stop by Dollar Tree for a $1 8-inch chef's knife to practice with. Overall I am satisfied with this purchase.
