The only thing I can say about this item is that it definitely works when the orange is scored. I have a small cut on my thumb to test how sharp it is! I'm pretty sure the dishes would be fantastic on an orange that doesn't have a thick skin or a lot of pith. I tried it on a navel orange and had no success with the rest of the peeler except for the slots in the peel. I spent over twenty minutes trying to use the tip to loosen the top and pull out with the inner scraper and ended up covering my hands in orange juice and the orange with most of the peel. I am very sure that if the orange had a thinner skin or almost no pith it would work like a charm. I just wanted to make sure people know not to use it on something as thick as a navel orange.
