After completing the repairs and making some attempts to continue shooting crops while in autofocus mode, I put it away. The moment I mounted it on a camera that had a travel autofocus mode, it began to function properly. This "handicapped character" lens remains, to this day, my personal favorite. It's my very first time using a fixed focus. Its advantages include the fact that, in the right hands, a costly picture may be given out "straight from the camera," independent of the equipment that is being used. When I purchased this lens, the Canon 10D was configured in this manner. After 11 years, and having used it with the 5D Mark III, I am still pleased with the outcome when I look at the photos I've taken with it. It seems to have occurred virtually always at this point. At whatever aperture, sharpness is maintained. On the open (and not so) - an enjoyable and aesthetic picture, from which portraits profit significantly. It is not frightened of backlight, although it does much better when the contrast is medium. Has a negative aspect: The design is awful. Even after having mine repaired three times in the span of two years, the focus ring rotation is not completely smooth in all places. On crops (10D, 40D, 50D, and 70D) has a high rate of missing. On hole 2.8, the pressure is still light. At 5.6 . 11 - perfect.
