The main reason I bought this set was the chain cutter. The wrench and main links were just extras. My chain cutter broke after only using it once. The piece of metal that pushes the links outward bends slightly when pressed firmly on the links. Even when centered on a limb, it bends! This requires you to put more force into the mechanism to turn it. It's a cheap piece of metal. Worse, the handle is made of semi-breakable plastic. So it turned out that I needed more leverage to push the pin through. To do this I had to grab the handle with adjustable pliers. Even then, I barely had time to turn it over. I was finally able to remove the old chain. But when I tried to remove the links from the new chain to get the right size, the handle broke! This forced me to use two vises on the metal screw and body of the device so I could twist it and pry the connection out! I threw it away because it broke after one use. Now if I have to replace the chain again, I'll have to spend even more money. So it turns out that getting a well known branded product that is strong and durable would save me money in the long run. Shit. The device that measures chain wear is also not up to date.
